On Being Lifted and Reminded.

Tonight’s feast of VW began with a half hour programme about the enduring appeal of The Lark Ascending. The solo violin was played by a beautiful, fifteen-year-old Chinese girl (wearing red!) on whose visage was inscrutability never less in evidence. She played a sublimely beautiful piece of music very beautifully. JJ’s mood improved.

The subsequent documentary included the line:

‘Vaughan-Williams not only loved women, he liked them. More than that, he needed women – especially young women – to drive his creativity.’

Yes, well...

A Chinese girl wearing red... is that a communist joke? Haha

Never thought of that. Actually, it was a reference to my Chinese ghost wearing a red cheomsang. Chinese women look so beautiful in red.

Yes, they do. I think Asian women are beautiful. Chinese, Japanese, and Indian. And all the others.

This might sound a bit weird, but a few things I've seen have suggested that Afghanistan is the place with the highest proportion of beautiful women. I suppose it's all down to personal perception.
