Veiling Venus.

When the sky is clear and the Bowl of Night resplendent in its finest regalia, Venus stands forth like the biggest and brightest diamond set among a sea of glass beads.

Tonight the sky was cloudy, universally so, and not a celestial body was visible – except Venus. Venus still shone through the vaporous sky, paler than usual but no less noble. She even had a halo.
