Moon Skin.

I was thinking the other day about women who lie on sunbeds to get a heavy tan. I assume they do it because there’s a received notion that tanned people are more beautiful than pale people. They evidently subscribe to the beauty-is-only-skin-deep school. And I further assume they want to appeal to the sort of men who subscribe to the same view.

I must be a bit out of step. My view is that women who have naturally dark skins are fine, but white women with heavy tans just look cheap and nasty. There’s an element of both the artificial and the superficial about them.

Pale skin has the beauty of the moon about it. How beautiful would the moon be if somebody painted it brown?
