I was only kidding about Isabella, you know. ‘You stay in
the warm, my precious,’ I said. ‘As soon as it stops snowing, I’ll clear the
path and put some salt down.’
‘Oh I see,’ she replied indignantly, ‘just because you’re a
man and I’m a weak and feeble woman, you think I need protecting from the
elements. Is that it? Well, let me tell you, my lad…’
She isn’t speaking to me now, so I’m off to try out the new
snow shovel.
