Three inept policemen, wiling away a lazy existence in a
remote coastal town, are trying to establish the link between some strange
goings on and a local legend about a horse-drawn hearse being seen driven by a
headless coachman. And then old Harbottle remembers an even older rhyme.
These well dated, character-driven comedies have a brand of charming
silliness that is sadly no longer with us. The picture quality is poor, but it’s
worth persevering for the ‘don’t you like the black ones?’ joke at the end.
