Accomodating the Alien.

I watched a news report at lunchtime about the first full hand transplant ever done in the UK. The recipient’s own hand had been all but destroyed by gout, so they amputated it and attached another, presumably from a deceased donor.

How would you like to have somebody else’s hand on the end of your arm? You wouldn’t know where it had been, would you? You wouldn’t know what it had touched, held, caressed, wiped, struck… And the quantum physicists tell us that consciousness is present within every cell of the body. So could it be that somebody else’s consciousness is present in your new hand? Bit mind blowing, really.
