Celebrity Influence.

I read earlier that Clint Eastwood has endorsed Mitt Romney in the race for the White House.

I’m not quite sure why this should have been a headline news item. In fact, I’m not sure why it’s considered newsworthy at all. Clint Eastwood’s political affiliations are his own affair, and I don’t see why they should be of interest to anybody else just because he happens to make his living as an actor. They surely aren’t going to sway anybody else into voting Republican, are they? People aren’t that easily led, are they?

I also read that he gave his reason as ‘because the country needs a boost’ which, let’s face it, is pretty meaningless. I assume he probably said more than that, because if he didn’t, his endorsement is even more inconsequential.

Clint Eastwood... who cares. I get so annoyed about all this celebrity crap. Another thing that really annoys me is when celebrity couples announce that they refuse to get married until homosexual couples are also allowed to get married. As if anyone cares... as if them refusing to do so matters in any sort of way that is going to speed equal rights up for anyone. Hubris, please.

What bothers me, Andrea, is that people do seem to care. The followers need a superior intelligence to guide them, or at least endorse their prejudices, and celebrities have become the demi-gods of the modern world. Laughable, but there it is.

Well... people do care but sometimes i think celebrities think that people care more than they really do. When it comes to certain social/political things its good for people who are in the spotlight to use it to their advantage to help 'raise awareness' about inhumane things, but silly to assume that them not wearing fur or not getting married is going to urge people to accept homosexual unions. That's all i was saying.
