There are at least two owls living around here.
There’s a barn owl that shrieks, and a tawny owl that makes the hoo-hoo-hoo-hooooo sound. I’ve never
known the two of them be around at the same time, until this evening. I
heard the barn owl shriek close by, and then the tawny answered it – or appeared
to – from across the field.
The big thrill followed seconds later…
The barn owl appeared, beating its buoyant flight
up the lane towards me. It banked left to fly over the hedge, but then turned
its head to look at me and changed course. It made straight for me, watching me
the whole time, until it was within about fifteen feet, before resuming its
original course and flying away.
That’s the second time the barn owl has paid me unusually
close attention. I wonder why. I don’t really look live an overgrown field vole,
do I?

Maybe he likes you.....I love owls.
I always had the impression that owls only like things they can eat, or think they can.
Some medicine men/women might say it's a spirit of a passed on loved one coming to see you. Esp. Barn owls who are so otherworldly.
That would be nice. It's been a year for both crows and owls, both of which I'm told are significant in a metaphysical way. (Must make that post about the jackdaw 'telling' me about the pheasant on the bird table.)
