It’s been a day of things bugging me. The current
one relates to the increasing habit of all things computer-related to use symbols
instead of words. The gmail inbox, for example, no longer has buttons that say ‘move
to’ ‘delete’ and so on. Now they use symbols, and so every time you want to
delete an e-mail, you have to work out yet again that the ‘delete’ button is
the one that looks vaguely like a trash can. Why can’t it just say ‘delete?’
I expect there will be more 'things bugging me' to come.
