I was reading earlier about Britain’s
worst motorway smash for twenty years. Thirty four vehicles, many of them in
flames, seven people dead, fifty one injured. I don’t want to describe the
feelings that swamp me when I read things like that. I don’t want to think
about what the dead and injured went through, or what emotional scars the
survivors will have to live with.
This is something Buddhists talk about: how to avoid going
into overdraft when paying the price of compassion.
