One manifestation of the ‘condition’ known as HSP is that it
makes you so keenly aware of
everything, from the patterns of snowmelt to the nuances of human nature to the
effect of your actions on other people. The last of them can be restrictive at
times.

And on the matter of snowmelt, I noticed today that several
fields were completely clear of snow, whereas other, neighbouring fields –
including Sarah’s paddock – were still mostly white. I wondered why this should
be and realised that the clear fields were the ones that had been re-sown last
autumn. This would presumably mean that the leaf density was lower on the newer
fields than the old, so I assume the snow on the latter is better insulated
against what little warmth there is in the soil. Hence the later melt.
That was today’s staggering revelation.

That's actually very interesting. I never noticed anything like that.
Too busy watching out for the wolves on the dance floor, I expect.
