I just caught a few minutes of the old James Bond film, From Russia with Love. James and the obligatory sex
interest were taking a ride in a powerboat, he at the helm and she standing next
to him. In the long shot, I would say they were doing about 20 knots and the
sea was choppy, but in the close up the boat wasn’t moving up and down and the actress’s
hair was undisturbed. Then she wetted her finger and held it up to judge the
wind direction!
Hilarious, but what I’m really curious to know is whether
adult audiences in the 1960’s noticed that sort of thing.
