The bodies of two deer have been found in Herefordshire, and
DNA samples were taken to prove or disprove the theory that they’d been killed
by a big cat. Scientists from the University
of Warwick said that there was no
trace of either feline or canine DNA on the bodies, only the DNA of fox and
deer. So that’s another big-cats-on-the-loose story thrown out of the window.
But hang on a bit...
If somebody went to the expense and trouble of carrying out
DNA testing, there must have been some reason to suspect that the deer had been
killed by a very big animal with big teeth and big claws. Not a fox. Or another
deer.
So what was it? Could it be that somebody isn’t telling us
something?
I was thinking about that when I went for my walk tonight.
Silly me.
