We all think we’re capable of self-sacrifice, don’t we? But
how far would each of us go if called to account?
Would we decline to complain about an inconvenience because
somebody else’s conflicting need was greater?
Would we give up our heart’s desire in order for our heart’s
desire to be happier with somebody else?
Would we burn ourselves alive to draw attention to a cause?
There are no brave men and no cowards. There are only infinitely
variable thresholds of caring, sensitivity, tolerance of pain, willingness to accept risk, and the capacity
to detach. No two people are made the same, so no one person has the right to
judge another.
