Anglophiles the world over will be pleased to know that the
Duchess of Cornwall is feeling better. The hospital in which she is recovering
has released no details regarding the number of sick bags she managed to fill
this morning, but one may have confidence in assuming that it was fewer than
yesterday. Well, that’s a relief.
What the hospital did release, however, were confidential
details relating to her condition to a couple of irreverent Aussie DJs who rang up pretending to be the
Queen and Prince Charles. This has caused great consternation to the Palace,
the BBC’s royal correspondent, and at least one other man in a suit who was
interviewed for the TV and whose face remained serious throughout.
Naughty, naughty, Oz. You’re not supposed to do things like
that, just because it’s summer where you are and you don’t dress for dinner. I
have to say, though, that a little irreverence in matters pertaining to the
British Royal Family doesn’t entirely meet with my disapproval.
