Flying Sheep.

There’s an early Monty Python sketch about sheep nesting in trees. The farmer explains to the startled onlooker that they’re under the delusion they can fly. ‘Only they don’t so much fly,’ he continues, ‘as plummet.’

Well, there are some low voltage overhead power cables in Bag Lane, and I’ve often noticed that they have strands of what appears to be fleece hanging from them. You see the same stuff hanging from the boundary wire enclosing fields which contain sheep.

So how does it get there? Do ovine skills extend further than is generally known? Or could it be that mischievous birds with a sense of humour – jackdaws would probably be favourite – are putting it there just have a laugh at our reaction? Answers invited.
