By the way, I forgot to mention a few weeks ago that I had an e-mail from the White House. (I was in a bit of a funk at the time, and not talking to anybody.) Yes, the White House – and from Mr O himself. At least, that was what it said at the bottom of the message – I suppose somebody else might have typed it, though.

I’d had a moan at him, you see, over his approach to the Palestinian question. His reply may be summarised thus:
