The location for Saturday’s Jazz and Barbecue Evening has
been changed due to the sodden state of the Old Rectory garden. (‘It takes
three days without rain for the land to dry out,’ said Mrs farmer. Saturday is
only three days away, and there’s plenty more rain in the forecast.)
So now it’s to be held at the village hall. Personally, I
doubt the village hall will be big enough, but we’ll see.
‘They’ve got two barrels of beer ordered,’ said Mrs farmer’s
daughter’s husband.
‘Only two?!’ I exclaimed.
‘Aye. They only had one last year and they ran out.’
Well they would, wouldn’t they? And what a dreadful prospect
that would be. What else does a vegetarian do at a Jazz and Barbecue Evening but drink
beer?
The maid’s gone all
cranky and the cook’s acting queer
What a terrible place
is a pub with no beer
