Defining Sensuous.

A pretty girl in a black dress playing the viola.

I’ve been trying to work out why, and the best I can come up with is:

It’s something to do with the irregular ensemble of two arms moving separately, but to a common end. It’s something to do with the gentle application of vibrato through the fingers of the left hand. It’s something to do with the involuntary swaying of the body in homage to the magic of the music.

‘So why the black dress?’

Because it holds the promise of hidden secrets.

‘And why the viola?’

Because it carries the sound of sunset, the onset of twilight, when the veil is thinnest and the majesty of the feminine principle most manifest.

‘You’re weird, mate.’

I know.
