The Leveson Enquiry is going on in Britain
at the moment. This is a wide ranging judicial enquiry into relations between
the media, politicians and the police. All sorts of famous people have given
evidence over the last seven months, and today it was Cameron’s turn. And again
we have the same scenario:
‘This is what happened,’ says the politician.
‘No, this is what
happened,’ says the media person.
...and then everybody has to make up their own mind about who’s
telling the truth. Not easy when you consider that there can be few areas of
public life in which being economical with the truth is more institutionally
entrenched than politics and the media.
