I got the home made scones I was promised – three cheese and
three standard ones. I had a cheese scone with soya chilli for dinner, and an
ordinary one spread with cream and blackcurrant jam for afters. Far too much in
my present condition, but rather nice.
And I can take another cheese one, buttered this time, to Derby
tomorrow so I don’t have to buy a vegetable pasty for lunch. That’s being
practical, that is.
(I also got a small bottle of chilled dry cider, which I
took great pleasure in drinking outside in the sunshine before dinner. A taste
of the high life.)

And I saw two birds in Church Lane
this evening that I’ve never seen before. Just off to look them up in my bird
book.
