Life Immitating Art.

Following the posting of my little ditty about the jackdaw and the earthworm, guess what I did today: rescued an earthworm.

When I went into my kitchen this morning there was one lying on the quarry tile floor. I assumed I’d brought it in on my shoe last night because it was looking pretty dry and defunct.

When I picked it up, however, it moved, so I ran it under the cold water tap for a few seconds to re-hydrate it. By the time I took it outside and laid it on some soil under a leaf, it had fattened up and was wriggling away merrily.

Now, it seems to me that all this effort for and on behalf of earthworms should attract not only the approbation of the Lady Bella, but also some more concrete reward. I know what I would like: I would like to catch another glimpse of her wearing that blue Paddington Bear hat with a bow. In fact, if I were a mere thirty years younger, I would have the courage to request it.

The other notable thing I did today was take a few pictures of the apple blossom to send to the priestess in Camelot. Oh, and another one of some Forget-Me-Nots. Subtle hints are an occasional forte of mine.
