The Rake and Romantic Continued.

Having written before on the differences between the rake and the Romantic, another one occurs to me:

The rake takes no risk. He is by nature an opportunist and a predator. What he can get he uses, and then leaves for others to pick over the bones. What he fails to catch doesn’t worry him because there are plenty more deer in the herd. He operates from a position of strength; he is in control and so needs no courage.

The Romantic, on the other hand, is a risk taker. He is prepared to relinquish control and allow his feelings to be prey to the whims of others. This looks like a weakness to some, but it isn’t; he does it because it’s necessary in order to win a far greater prize. But it does render him vulnerable, because when he exposes his chest he has no way of being sure whether it will be filled with stars, or subjected to the Viking blood eagle.

Guess which one is easier.
