Are You Listening, Mr Ford?

I was thinking today that it can’t be much of a life being a car. You have to go when the human tells you to go, stop when the human tells you to stop, turn right, turn left, stop again, go again, back up, stand there and wait while he goes into the shop, stand there again while he eats the egg and cress sandwich and jam doughnut which he bought in the shop while you were waiting for him… You’re a complete slave to the mobile meaty thing with hands and feet. You can’t even wink at the pretty little British racing green Mini in the next bay. And how many of the mobile meaty things ever talk to their slaves?

I do. That’s why I read up on Panpsychism. It seems a belief in the idea that all material has mind isn’t as uncommon as you’d think. It isn’t only spiritual and primitive traditions that hold to the view; many respected philosophers support the idea, too. And I once heard a quantum physicist say 'Consciousness is contained in every cell.'

Good. It’s nice to feel vindicated.
