Appreciating Tall Ears.

That scene from LOTR in which Arwen is on her white horse and carrying Frodo to safety from the Nazgul is really something. She has her hair up, you see, and so her ears are showing and her eyes are flashing fire.

If there’s one thing that lifts my spirits and gives me hope for the salvation of mankind, it’s pointy-eared women trashing the bad guys, especially when a moment's apprehension hints at a trace of self-doubt.

It does. Honestly, it does. I’m not kidding. I’m not.

And I do believe that Liv Tyler will come to be recognised as a great actress, once the glamorous facade falls away. Or maybe it already has. I don't keep abreast of modern films.
