Wealth and Wellbeing.

I read today of a world-wide survey on the prevalence of charitable giving in different countries. It concluded that the most generous people were those in Australia and New Zealand. So well done you lot Down Under.

What I found more telling, however, was another conclusion. They found that the capacity for giving is related more to feelings of wellbeing than wealth. Happy people give, not rich people. So the richest people aren’t necessarily the happiest, then? Well there’s a surprise.

All the more reason to give to beggars with glee, they offer us all a chance to be generous.

I wonder how many more there will be when the Public Schoolboys in Power have finished having their way.
