What Value Stats Counters?

I’m beginning to have serious doubts about the value of stats counters.

According to the one available in Blogger Draft, I’ve had dozens of visits today from various parts of the world. My flag counter says I’ve had six. And according to Google, I’ve had visits from Denmark, Turkey, Lithuania and various other places over the last week that haven’t recorded on the flag counter. One of them has to be wrong. Or maybe it’s both.

I do wish that somebody from Denmark, Turkey or Lithuania would leave a comment, so that I know whether you’re real or just a ghost in the Google machine.

Or maybe it would be better not to have a stats counter.I'm still working on whether I have a valid reason to care.

It might be a ghost. Google tends to do that (like I really have about 3 less followers than it says). Even if Denmark, Turkey, and Lithuania haven't come to your blog, you still have a very impressive readership.
I'm so glad you're continuing! :)
Sorry about misunderstanding that other post, btw.

I discovered how that can happen. I had a follower withdraw, and Google moved one of the others forward to the 'head of the queue,' as it were. In doing that, it increased the number by one even though the extra one doesn't exist. If that makes sense. Which it probably doesn't, 'cos I can't write straight tonight.

Which other post?

I'm still feeling queasy over your 1,000 calorie piece of cheesecake.
