Two Little Facts.

Two little facts that might or might not be related:

Fact number 1

It was announced today that the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan has cost at least £20bn so far. It was also said that certain direct costs haven’t been included yet, and the true figure will be substantially higher.

Fact number 2

As previously reported, the government has scrapped the plan to extend free school meals to children of poorer families because the country can’t afford it.

Related? You decide.

I knew this one comment would be you! Thanks, Mel. What happens in 2012?

Hee hee!! According to the Mayans there's a big change coming, some have read it as cataclysmic change, the end of the world, the end of civilisation as we know it. I like to imagine that it will be an almighty shake up that will profoundly challenge our beliefs and values.

Yes, I remembered hearing about the Mayan thing after I'd sent the comment. Better stock up on scotch and potatoes!

;) And when the scotch runs out you can make Poitín!

Mel, you're being clever again. Did you get an education or something? What, pray, is poitin? I'm going to guess at potato spirit. Too lazy to google it.

Ah, I thought on! Is this a fancy spelling of what I've always seen spelt as 'poteen?' The proper Gaelic spelling, perhaps? Have you seen Brien Friel's play 'Translations.'
