Colonial Logic.

I watched one of those videos on YouTube tonight in which a young American woman describes her experiences on first coming to the UK. It began with the inevitable

The cars drive on the left side of the road there, and I nearly got run over!'

Well, that' s understandable I suppose, but then she went on to say:

Not only do they drive on the left, but the steering wheels are on the right side of the car!

I think further comment from me would be superfluous.

(Except maybe to recall again the young British acquaintance of mine who found an old sundial in the garden of a Victorian house and said 'Look at this. It's so old, and yet it still works.')
