Isn’t it just the way? You spend all that time and effort
trying to write things of consequence, and its something utterly inconsequential
which gets all the attention. Imagine if you were W Shakespeare and your most
well known creation was:
The boy stood on the
burning deck
The wind was making
him shiver
He gave a cough and
his leg fell off
And floated down the
river
Not that WS wrote that, of course, and neither did I; I
heard it as a kid somewhere. But you get my drift. And I’m still having trouble
acknowledging the verb ‘to trend.’
