Baby's First Words.

There’s an advert for life insurance started appearing in one of my inboxes. It has several versions, but all feature a picture of a young child looking shocked.

What?! No life insurance?!

This is the usual manipulative stuff, of course – making the young parent generation feel guilty for failing to ‘make provision’ for their offspring. There’s a certain point to it I suppose, if you see things that way, but what I see is a selfish brat thinking:

You mean you’re not going to leave me lots of money when you die! You suck!

I have as little as possible to do with insurance companies, especially when they’re trying to make me believe that precocious and pecuniary belong together.
