The Problem with Being Busy.

I’ve been busy again today. That’s because there are several things competing for immediate attention at the moment, and you can only do one job at a time.

I dislike being busy, and by busy I don’t mean active. They’re not the same. Active is simply the state of movement, whether mental or physical; active is OK. Busy is a state of mind which involves a level of implied pressure, and that pressure subdues the capacity for keen observation and extended awareness. Observation and awareness are what I live for; they seem to form the core of my ‘work’ in this life, and I dislike being distracted from my work by being busy.
