In Praise of Fuggles.

According to the back label, this IPA beer ‘uses Fuggles, Goldings and Cascade hops.’

Fuggles is the clincher. How many words rhyme with Fuggles? Not many, you must admit. Anything with Fuggles in it has to be good, right? Right. Fuggles is a warm, comforting word, redolent of winter nights spent reclining on the sofa with a bag of chips and a piece of battered cod from the local chippy. You can almost smell the frost and misty air that’s knocking on the door but can’t get in. I think IPA will play a double act with London Porter once I’ve sampled the rest of the range.

The back label also says:

‘Avoid alcohol if pregnant or trying to conceive.’

Since neither has ever been an issue with me, Fuggles can stay.
