I've wondered before if there could be a psychological effect on a person's personality and behavior due to the language they speak and the accent they speak it it. Maybe not personality and behavior... but more of an effect on the character. Could have something to do with the stereotypes we have for people of different nationalities.
...or they way foreign languages sound could shape our perception of people and that could be the seed of a stereotype...
Also... "It is said that thought grew out of language, not language out of thought. What words are to thought, symbols are to intuition. Curious as it may seem, the symbol precedes the elucidation..." Interesting. ~Dion Fortune
It seems to me that, although language and stereotype come from totally different sources, there must be a symbiotic relationship between the tone of the language, the self-perception of people conditioned by the culture to which it belongs, and the external perception of those who observe that culture. The three must go together to some extent, but the result is obviously simplistic. I would recommend watching these two short videos of a Faun song.

The first has a still picture of an album cover while a man with a deep voice sings in German. It sounds harsh and almost predatory to me. The second has the same man singing the same song, but you can see him. My impression when I saw the second one was completely different than when I only heard the first.
Dion Fortune’s assertion seems illogical on the surface, but deeper truths often do. It’s something I would have to think long and hard about when I’m in a more receptive mood.
I'll watch the YouTube videos when either my internet connection or my laptop are behaving better... i've tried to watch the videos in your more recent post and am having trouble at the moment.
What you've said in response to what i said is closer to what i was trying to get at and just couldn't get my mind to cooperate with the articulation.
What Dion Fortune has said seems contrary... seems to be that language came from a desire to communicate thought, but she probably means something other than just thought or mundane thought... something profound. There's probably a symbol there that i don't quite get yet.
