If these similarities continue to converge, as I suspect
they might, I think the time is approaching when I’ll need to get my shopping
delivered, since it will become inadvisable to be seen in public. No doubt I shall
then be reduced to spending my time skulking in the undergrowth down by the
river, and any good Person of the Shire who wishes to walk their dog in that
locality would be wise to remove their wedding ring first.

You don't look like Golum, I'm sure, so please stop saying it :) Funny, though, the last few posts. Yes everyone has long hair in LOTR and the same is true for The Hobbit which I watched again yesterday. It's a nice film too, though it departs more from Tolkien's original than LOTR. Anyway, yes, all the hair is long and often silky, especially in the case of the Elves. Rivendell is really wondrous, and would be a nice place to live, so I am a fan and keep watching, despite the hair.
But I do, Della, I do. There's definitely a family resemblance. I have the same big eyes which vacillate between servility and vindictiveness.
I get a bit lost with these elvish places. Isn't Rivendell where Arwen and her dad live? I think I'd be more at home with Galadriel. She has a dark, mysterious side that appeals to me.
Do you know what's odd? Your visits never record in the Feedjit these days, but your exits do. Must be something to do with that Feedly thing.
A cross between servility and vindictiveness? Okay, well that would explain it :) Of course Gollum is a 2-sided creature, a split personality and so our sympathies are torn. But it's a characteristic we all share to some degree, I suppose.
Oh yes, you're right! The forest where Galadriel lives is Lothlórien which is more magical than Rivendell. The elves in general are rather 'cool' but Galadriel has a wild, unpredictable quality to her. I used to see the elves in LOTR as some kind of gentle forest creatures like deer, but Galadriel complicates the metaphor. She's in The Hobbit, too. Have you seen it?
I go into various windows within Feedly which I couldn't with Google Reader, so maybe that's what you're seeing. It's nice but just another interface to get my not-so-young head around. Have also been procrastinating on Pinterest these days, which is more straightforward and all about pictures. Can be rather inspiring, actually.
I'm a bit uneasy about seeing The Hobbit. I'm not sure how you can get away with making a prequel a good decade after the first trilogy, but use some of the same actors. I saw a clip on YouTube the other night and Gandalf definitely looked older, which doesn't make sense. I fear I would be looking for it and it would take me out of the story.
