A Question of Cool.

I was just watching a video of the Barcelona Gypsy Klezmer Orchestra when a thought occurred to me: Why is it that a lean, 30-something, 6ft 4, dark skinned male clarinettist of mixed East European and Indian descent can look the epitome of cool when wearing a trilby, but if I wore one I would look like a 1950s vacuum cleaner salesman? Is it something to do with the clarinet?
