A Question of Emancipation.

I was thinking today about my old rugby playing days. The one thing I wasn’t entirely comfortable with was the rather laddish habit of singing bawdy songs which were nothing if not disrespectful to women.

Rugby was entirely a man’s game in those days, of course. There were no women rugby players as there are in these more emancipated times. And that has me wondering:

Do the tight forwards in the women’s game suffer cauliflower ears and twisted noses as they do in the men’s? And do the women sing bawdy songs that are nothing if not disrespectful to men in the communal bath afterwards?
