J'Accuse Mr Scott.

I  just watched the 2012 Ridley Scott film Prometheus, and now I’m irritated.

I was irritated throughout the film at the striking similarities between characterisation, plot elements, design, and even some of the dialogue that appeared to have been lifted straight from Alien. It seemed like nothing more than a tired Alien spin-off. But then the final scene gives us the truth of the matter: it’s actually an Alien prequel.

Come on, Ridley. If you’re going to make a prequel to one of your earlier hits, tell us it’s a prequel in the publicity. Springing the surprise at the end is cheap. In my opinion, it’s deceitful and patronising. I’m not impressed, and I almost regret having spent the £1 rental fee.
