Music.

From the sublime to the sensual to the sordid to the scintillating.

I never understood how a simple, eleven note scale could be capable of seemingly infinite variation. I never understood how every nuance of every human experience could be distilled into a sound and re-experienced through it. And I never understood how that sound could go a stage further and take us to places we didn’t even know existed.

Maybe music holds within itself the tiniest echo of Aum, carried perhaps across the infinite distance between the spheres, and therefore as close as the air next to our skin.

I've never taken to opera, although certain arias do have exceptional power.
