The Next Level.

The last two posts can be taken a stage further to an interesting reflection.

The problem of repeatedly having to suffer the emotional consequences of being pushed aside in favour of somebody better is a vicious circle. The pain that accrues stems from having a weak point in the wall of self-esteem. The more it happens, the more one's relative inadequacy is confirmed, and so the bigger the weak point becomes. Ironically, therefore, the older you get, the worse it feels.

But if we could learn to subdue the ego, as all Vedic philosophies insist is necessary to growth, self-esteem would become redundant and the problem would disappear.

That’s a big one, and something to be carried forward to the next life, I think.
