Mystical Maybe?

I don’t often write about dreams, partly because I rarely remember them and partly because I don’t see why anybody else would be interested. Last night’s, I think, was different in both respects.

I went to a residential college somewhere, for what purpose I don’t know. The first person I met was a young woman, a girl in her late teens I would say. She wasn’t classically beautiful, nor even overly pretty, but there was something pleasing, attractive and welcoming about her face. She had piercing eyes coloured a very light green-blue. And she looked familiar, though I couldn’t place her.

It turned out that we were sharing a room, and there seemed nothing odd or uncomfortable about that. The girl was happy with the arrangement and we were on friendly terms. At one point she needed my advice on how to open the door to the room, and then I joined her in the college refectory for a meal.

Then came the interesting bit.

I went out to the car park to fetch something from my car, but the central locking button wouldn’t unlock the doors. I saw the girl standing nearby and knew that that I could open them through her eye – not ‘eyes’ note, but the third eye in her forehead. I approached her and asked permission, which she gave willingly. I looked at the key and saw that it was different from an ordinary car key; it was a narrow piece of round metal with a screw thread at the bottom end. This made me uneasy because I didn’t want to risk causing the girl any pain. I knew I would have to be careful and meticulously accurate.

I approached her and saw that there was a small hole in the pupil of her third eye. I moved up close, fearing that such intimate proximity might be repellent to her. I even held my breath so that I wouldn’t breathe on her face. I inserted the key very carefully and turned it. The car doors unlocked.
