A Little Question for Americans.

Do Americans spell the word ‘obsession’ as ‘obssession,’ because that’s how it’s spelled on the cover of my copy of the book? I can’t be bothered to check by changing the settings in Word.

This sort of thing can be a bit confusing because our facility for accurate spelling comes largely from the way we’re used to seeing things written. Maybe I should try to become more insular.

I spell it obsession.

So I wonder whether the publisher has made a typo on the cover. Interesting. Thanks, Jeanne.

That's bizarre. I looked it up on http://www.onelook.com which is a great English dictionary tool listing links to definitions in various internet sources – both American and British – and only saw it spelled one way, as Jeanne has it "obsession". I can only think there's a reason it's misspelled on the cover of your book, a typo on the cover is just hard to believe.
