I read a small news report the other day which said that Eskdalemuir, a rather bleak and windswept little settlement high in the Southern Upland of Scotland, recorded its coldest December since records began there a hundred years ago. It occurred to me, as it would, that Eskdalemuir never features in limericks. So, the following might not be very good, but is it a first for mankind?
There was a girl from Eskdalemuir
Who tried to find a natural cure
For all her ills,
’Cos lots of pills
Just left her feeling most impure.
Sorry Zhen, can’t get a handle on the country folk yet. Still thinking about it.
