The Road Not Travelled.

I’ve been jumping up and down a lot lately to this. No regrets, of course, but it’s where I would have been had I not been dumb enough to listen to grown ups when I was younger. And here is where I’m thinking of going next. Interesting that these two songs were released in the same year.

Thinking of going, Lu. It rather depends on meeting the right person - someone who knows the ropes. I'm just a glutton for new experiences. Enchantments can come from many souces.

Where would you be if you hadn't listened to adults?

And that is meant not in a sarcastic way, even though it sounds like it. It's a genuine question.

I meant ‘would have been’ in the historical sense, Maria. I was just musing on the fact that I would probably have had more fun and adventure when I was young had I not listened to the older generation telling me how important it was to be mature, be responsible, work hard – all that kind of stuff. The actuality of a life consists of nothing but memory once it’s over, and it’s possible my bag of memories would be that bit more interesting. Not that it matters.

As for where I would be now, I have no idea. None of us can know what the consequences would be of changing one thing in our history. It’s one reason why there’s no point in regretting anything – except, perhaps, to take a lesson. In that case, once the lesson is learned, regret becomes fully redundant.
