Since today is 4th July, I have a question of Americans.
Independence Day I understand, but what is Thanksgiving Day all about? For what are you giving thanks, exactly? And are you giving thanks to anybody in particular, or just being generally thankful?
It’s an honest question. I’m honestly curious.

We're just giving thanks generally. As the pilgrims were quite thankful the Indians didn't let them starve, it's pretty much just to remember why you should be grateful.
That's really interesting. Thanks, Rebel. I like your blog name, by the way.
It's origin is technically religious, being a day people would give thanks to god at the end of the harvest seasons for a good harvest. So it's said that there was one thanksgiving day when native americans and settlers sat down together to celebrate it together.
All in all it's a day to be thankful for what you've got, and generally the mark of the holiday season (the day right after it being black friday, the day when everything suddenly goes into Christmas mode.)
Thanks for that, McC. You mean Christmas doesn't start in September over there?!
