We were treated to the first of the summer-style sunsets this
evening. A vast swathe of the western sky was awash with salmon pink mackerel
clouds set among a background of pale grey and pale blue sky. Very summery, I
thought, but then asked myself whether this was an example of nature smiling to
deceive because that’s what I always think. Tomorrow is the vernal equinox.
